An inclusive assessment of climate-related financial risk in the agricultural sector
Already prone to extreme climate events, Latin America and the Caribbean are likely to experience an increasing number of these events in the near future. Climate risk appraisal can be a costly and technologically burdensome challenge. The due diligence needed for loans, insurance, or re-insurance premiums on capital-intensive green infrastructure requires a high degree of climate literacy. The sheer sums of money involved in this endeavour help justify the complexity of the algorithms that compute the risk scoring among some risk assessors.
This session at ICTforAg 2022 co-created by DAI showcased Climate TARP (Tool to Assess Risk and Preparedness): a digital tool that provides a balanced approach to climate-related financial risk and preparedness analysis.
